2. Our services
This policy covers how we handle your personal data across three distinct services. Different types of data are collected depending on which service you use.
Mortgage Comparison
Our mortgage comparison engine allows you to search and compare mortgage products based on criteria you provide, such as property value, mortgage amount, term length and mortgage type. This service may be provided directly by Koodoo or through a white-label partnership with a third-party website (such as a price comparison service).
Rate Alerts
Rate Alerts is an optional feature available through our mortgage comparison service. If you sign up, we will store your email address and mortgage search criteria, and send you a weekly email showing current mortgage products matching your original search. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Mortgage Advice & Brokerage
Through Mortgage Power Limited (trading as Koodoo Advice), we provide regulated mortgage advice and broker services. This involves collecting significantly more personal data than our comparison service, including identity verification, financial details and, where necessary, special category data.
3. What data do we collect?
The data we collect depends on which of our services you use.
3.1 All services
When you access any of our websites, we may collect basic information about your visit, such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited. Please see our Cookie Policy for details.
3.2 Mortgage Comparison
When you use our mortgage comparison service, we collect the search criteria you enter to generate results. This typically includes:
Property details — property value and mortgage amount
Mortgage preferences — term length and type (e.g. fixed, variable)
Purchase type — e.g. first-time buyer, remortgage, buy-to-let
When you access our comparison service via a third-party partner website, we may also receive personal data from that partner to enable us to provide you with mortgage quotations. This may include your name, address, email address and financial information such as current mortgage payments. In these circumstances, the partner’s privacy policy also applies.
3.3 Rate Alerts
If you sign up for Rate Alerts, we collect:
Email address — to send you weekly rate alert emails and to verify your subscription
Mortgage search criteria — the search parameters you used when signing up (such as property value, mortgage amount, term and type), so we can match relevant products each week
Subscription preferences — your opt-in consent and unsubscribe status
Our rate alert emails may contain tracking technologies (such as tracking pixels and click tracking) to help us understand engagement and improve the service. See section 13 (Cookies) for more information.
3.4 Mortgage Advice & Brokerage
If you apply for mortgage advice through Koodoo, we collect substantially more personal data, including:
Personal data
Identity data — your full name including any middle or maiden names, current marital status and title, date of birth, gender, nationality, and employment history
Contact information — address history, email address and telephone number
Financial data — bank account details, card payment details, income information, credit history, current expenditure, credit commitments and other outgoings
Criminal history — criminal offences and convictions data (where relevant to your application)
Public data — Companies House and Electoral Register data
Historic data — data you have entered previously should you return to use our services; we will always ensure this data is accurate
Special category data
We may also collect the following special category data where necessary to support your mortgage application:
Physical and mental health conditions, or signs of vulnerability
Racial or ethnic origin
Biometric data (for identity verification purposes)
Identity verification, facial recognition, fraud prevention and anti-money laundering checks may be carried out by third-party providers (such as Onfido, via our CRM platform) as part of the mortgage application process. We will inform you which providers are used at the point of application.

If you no longer wish to be contacted for marketing purposes, please email us at preferences@koodoo.io.
10. Automated decision-making
Mortgage Comparison and Rate Alerts
Our mortgage comparison engine and Rate Alerts service use automated filtering to match mortgage products to your search criteria. This is a straightforward matching process based on the parameters you provide (such as property value, mortgage amount and term) and does not involve complex profiling or scoring. The results are informational only and do not constitute a lending decision or financial advice.
Mortgage Advice & Brokerage
Our mortgage advice service may use automated tools to assist with product sourcing and eligibility assessment. All recommendations are reviewed by a qualified mortgage advisor before being presented to you. No solely automated decisions are made that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.
You have the right to ask for information about how and why an automated decision was made about you, to request human review of the decision, and to challenge or seek correction of the outcome if you believe it is inaccurate.
11. What are your data protection rights?
