Koodoo Financial Limited is registered as a Data Controller and Data Processor with the ICO, with registration number ZA560572. Koodoo Financial Limited has a subsidiary company, Mortgage Power Ltd (registered company number 10978680).

This policy is also relevant for other trading names under Mortgage Power Limited, including Get Mortgage Rates, a website which uses Koodoo’s technology to provide mortgage comparison services. Within this policy, all references to “Koodoo” refer to all subsidiaries and trading names within the group.

Koodoo collects the following data:

  • If you access our mortgage comparison and eligibility checking services, you do so via a third party provider, and the terms of their Privacy Policy will apply. In these circumstances, we will receive (via the third party provider) the personal data that is required to enable us to provide you with mortgage quotations and related services. This personal information may include your name and address, email address, financial data such as current mortgage payments and provider, and other information about your financial status to enable us to match your circumstances to mortgage products.

  • If you access our mortgage comparison and eligibility checking services directly, the terms of our Privacy Policy will apply. We will collect personal data that is required to enable us to provide you with mortgage quotations and related services. This personal information may include your name and address, email address, financial data such as current mortgage payments and provider, and other information about your financial status to enable us to match your circumstances to mortgage products.

  • If you apply for a job with us, we will collect the personal information from you that is necessary to progress your application, including name, address, date of birth, email address, and current/previous employment history.

As well as the data outlined above, Koodoo collects the following data for its mortgage advice service. This will apply to all customers using our services.

  • Identity data: Your full name including any middle or maiden names, current marital status and title, date of birth, gender, nationality, and employment history.

  • Contact information: Address history, email address and telephone number.

  • Financial data: Bank account details, card payment details, income information, credit history, and your current expenditure; credit commitments and other outgoings

  • Criminal history: Criminal offences and convictions data

  • Public data: Companies House and Electoral Register data

  • Historic data: Data you have entered previously should you return to use our services; we will always ensure this data is accurate

  • Perform system maintenance and fault investigation if the data causes an error in the Koodoo systems

  • Process and submit your mortgage application

  • Market analysis, research, and demographic profiling

  • Comply with regulatory and legal requirements

  • Perform anti-money laundering and fraud checks

  • Legitimate interests, such as data retention if you return to use our services in future, collect payment for services, improve our services, or investigate and resolve any complaints you may have

Koodoo takes data security extremely seriously, and we use the highest standards of security in our systems. Your data will be stored at highly secure data centres in the UK, and will be encrypted both in transit and at rest. Strict protections are in place to ensure only authorised people and systems can access your data.

Koodoo will only store data for as long as is necessary to provide you with the services you requested, or for as long as we are required to hold the data by law (whichever is longer). Once this time period has expired, we will safely delete your data.

If you are applying with us for a mortgage and you are provided with a mortgage recommendation, we will store your data for 5 years. If you successfully complete, we will store your data for the duration of the mortgage term plus 5 years. Should you have any questions or requests for data deletion please contact compliance@koodoo.io, we will resolve your query within 1 month.

5.2 Where will we transfer your personal information?

Your personal information may be used, stored and/or accessed by staff operating outside the UK or the EEA working for us, other members of our group or suppliers. Your personal information may be stored on servers located in Ireland.

If we provide any personal information about you to any such non-UK and non-EEA members of our group or suppliers, we will take appropriate measures to ensure that the recipient protects your personal information adequately in accordance with this privacy policy. These measures may include the following:

  • Ensuring that there is an adequacy decision by the UK Government in the case of transfers out of the UK, or by the European Commission in the case of transfers out of the EEA, which means that the recipient country is deemed to provide adequate protection for such personal data; or
